Morphine To Suboxone Advantage (Top voted first)
UpdatedI have been taking morphine 60mg er for 5 yrs. Will buprenorphine be able to handle my neuropothy because 180mg of morphine & 12mg Dilaudid doesn't touch the pain I'm in? I'm no addict I feel no euphoria from these drugs. I hate taking them. I'm just scared buprenorphine wont be able to touch my pain I'm ready to cut my feet off its like walking on burning coal 24/7/365. Any info would be very helpful. Thanks

For me dilaudid was ( I'm not taking now) only thing that gave me any quality of life and could still work with my nerve pain, but everyone is different, they have bucca films now that supposedly is strong enough to help with cancer pain, problem for me was I had other seriously legitimate and proven painful things happen and it was not good I had been on a pain med that negates others aka bupenorphine. The patch for me was not strong enough to take care of enough pain, I wore it a few years. With the whole alleged pain pill epidemic, it can very difficult for people like me who is telling the dang truth to get enough help so undertreatment mimics pill seeking. Unless someone has experienced true nerve pain especially from the spine, they can't comprehend the hell it causes. Not a lot helps that kind of pain enough but it doesn't mean they should not help enough!! If your regular meds don't touch the pain then it may be worth trying the other fir you, some people it may be better. For many, different pain issues respond different to different types of pain meds, like fentynyl patch worked better for severe abdominal pain than oxycodone 20, it also seemed to help really well for my back pain but doctors are scared into not prescribing and some are just plain self righteous to prescribe the higher dose meds unless you have cancer or possibly dying anyways. The bupenorphine does not really give u a high feeling which I could care less about, I just want pain relief. Regular pain meds like dilaudid doesn't really make me feel euphoric because I've had to take pain meds so long, so if a doc is concerned then a person truly in pain my personal experience is I don't experience euphoria anymore regardless of pain Med type because of regular use of my meds on a consistent basis. Truth is it may or may not work well enough, I think it depends on the person and problem.
It can vary from person to person, so just as Shai said, it depends on the person and the problem. Buprenorphine works great for some people to help with pain, but it doesn't work at all for some. We are all different, so there is no way to know, other than trying it.
The FDA warns that these medications carry the risk of being habit forming and may cause side effects, such as dizziness, headache, dry mouth, constipation, and nausea.
Have you ever tried Oxycodone? That is usually the next step up from Morphine.
I'm in the SAM boat as u with the nerve pain in my back & your rt its the worst pain Ever & its like pulling teeth to get a Dr to help u get treated like a junkie every Drs running scared they took a oath don't know how they can turn a blind eye to us
