Morphine Sulfate Er Help

Need a pain Dr. in Pittsburgh PA.. been taking MS Contin for awhile and want to stay on my treatment plan.

Due to the new regulations that were put in place last year, if you require such a medication on a long-term ongoing basis, you'll need to see a specialist. General practice doctors will not be able to prescribe it for you.

And if you go in asking for a specific medication, they will view that as being drug seeking behavior. You'll need to set up an appointment with a new doctor and let your medical records speak for themselves. Once they can see what has and hasn't worked for you in the past, as documented by a fellow physician, they will be more prone to prescribe accordingly.

This is a narcotic analgesic, so it has the potential to be habit forming and may cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, drowsiness, dry mouth and constipation.

Do you currently have a PCP that could refer you to someone?

Can anyone suggest a good doctor in that area?

I HAVE BEEN ON MORPHINE 60 ER 2 X A DAY AND MORPHINE 15 FOR BREAK THROUGH PAIN 4 X A DAY. I AM IN MORE PAIN THAN EVER HAVE BEEN IN AND I HAVE BEEN IN SOME PAIN OR ANOTHER FOR 10 YEARS OR SO. MY MOST RECENT AFFLICTION IS A COMPLETE TORN TENDON IN MY RIGHT ARM AND I HAVE SUCH PAIN IN MY KNEES WHEN I TRY TO LOWER MYSELF TO MY KNEES LIKE WHEN I BATHE MY DOGS IN TUB OR GET SOMETHING FROM UNDER MY BED. I HAVE HAD CHRONIC BACK PROBLEMS FOR A LONG TIME AND ARTHRITIS IN MY NECK. LIST GOES ON AND ON. I AM ONLY 56 YRS OLD AND I DON'T WANT TO LIVE LIKE THIS ANYMORE. I WANT MY PAIN GONE. NO MEDS WORK ANYMORE IF THEY EVER DID. WHAT CAN I DO TO LIVE AGAIN?. WHEN SITTING THE STRAIN IN MY MID BACK IS EXCRUTIATING. IT'S NO FUN BEING ME. I DON'T GET ANY "EUPHORIC FEELING" SO I'M NOT LOOKING FOR THAT. I WANT RELIEF.!

I too am seeking a GOOD pain management dr in the Columbus, Oh area. I'm permanently & fully disabled. I've been on MS for the padt 13+ yrs and 2 hours prior to my appointment to refill my meds, the office called to inform me that my "dr. is no longer in the group, as of today, nor is the practice (pain management) able to prescribe narcotics, this was two days ago and I'm starting to experience problems. They suggest I go to urgent care"! Urgent cares, minute clinics, ect. do not prescribe pain medication and especially MS. Need dr immediately! can anyone help?
