Morphine Sulfate Er 15mg And Imm

Hello, I take the above medications and have been for a little while. I have been having symptoms on & off but thought it was something that was just happening. Until it began to persist. I am now wearing a Foley bag and not urinating on my own. I have not had a bowel movement for weeks at a time (I may have one and then go 2-3 weeks without. can you tell me could this be a side effects because of my medications. I have severe cramping accompanying with cold cold hands and my feet are freezing.

It occurs more commonly with IV or intrathecal Morphine, but it has been known for the oral to occasionally cause urinary retention, as well. The FDA classifies this medication as a narcotic analgesic, so it has the potential to be habit forming and may cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, drowsiness, dry mouth and constipation.

Most narcotics can effect blood flow, which could cause cold extremities.

Have you considered trying a different medication, to see if the situation resolves?

Hi, sorry you are going through this. I came across this thread because I was looking up info on the pain mess I am taking. I just got released from the hospital after have brain surgery two days ago and One of the kids is Morphone Sulphate Imm. I can tell you that it will definitely make you constipated. Phillips stool softener will help tremendously. It is stimulant and cramp free. You may cramp up at first while clearing all of it out but if you take it daily you will get regular. I cannot strain during bowel movements since I have stitches inside and outside of my head and this has helped. One question for you is , does the Morphone cause headaches for you?? Hope you get well soon
