Morphine And Norco Together, Or Spaced Out (Top voted first)

Hello! My name is Mark and I've had heart surgery a week and a half ago. Now, I have norco 10/325 and have been taking them for years. However, my doctors at the hospital had me stop taking norco while inpatient, and have prescribed me morphine 30 er along with tramadol 100mg. A morphine at waking and when going to sleep, and three tramadol doses between. Can I swap the tramadol for my norco? I did so today and haven't felt well. Chills, cold sweats and light fever, but those are all common with heart surgery as it's a rough battle to fight off pneumonia while your lungs heal. So... Instead of taking a norco for my last dose I went back to tramadol to see if it'll work. Am I safe? Can I take morphine and norco? Help please!

Yes... That's why it's so hard to find a legitimate answer. They tell me the tramadol should work, however it doesn't. I mean, there's a reason I've been prescribed norco for so long and not tramadol. The only doctor I feel I can talk with about this is my primary who is also my norco prescriber. But he's told me, he's no heart surgeon and he can't give an ans er beyond an educated guess. He says it should be fine but to not take them every 6, move to every 8 and be sure there is a three hour window between morphine doses. That -sounds- appropriate but I can't bet my life on something -sounding- okay. Know what I mean? But please let's not derail the conversation. I need an answer, the tramadol isn't working.

Mark, aren't you also seeing a cardiologist?

Tramadol is a very mild opiate, so it will not work like Morphine, Oxycodone, or most others.

The FDA warns that they all carry the risk of being habit forming and may cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, headache, constipation, and dry mouth.

Are you on any other medications? Sometimes, others that are prescribed for heart, or blood pressure issues can cause increased pain and other issues as side effects.

I am on Norco 10mg, 6 times a day. Can I take the 30mg morphine with them or can I take a 30 mg and two 10mg Norco at the same time?

How long does time release morphine 30mg take to work?

I'd never take anything besides my own script I will stay on my Norco an soma I don't know anything about morphine an don't care to sometimes my meds don't seem it work but most of the time they do , I was asking because I had someone ask me I won't take anything unless I ask my doctor first an I've always been up front with my doctor he has giving me permission to take an extra half of a Norco if I really need it but I have to watch because I don't want to run out before I get refill I can't believe some people taking chances by mixing their meds with someone else's I am to scared to take a chance of a heartattact or over doing it I am up in age to where I worry about my health

Legitimate people with chronic pain issues are getting f****. My sympathy goes out to the people that are abusing "our" meds. Bottom line, we're getting screwed because these people want nothing more than to "get off" on meds that help people stuck with our "dependence" of relying on our "pain management specialist". Using or abusing, same classification as far as they are concerned. Where are OUR ADVOCATES? Too angry for any more of this garbage. Where are references to advocates for us? Frustrated, angry and humiliated. Who is out there defending us? Seems like no one, to me.
