Hi shaun,

I think this goes a lot deeper than being concerned about the "abuser's health". One of the most talked about reasons why people take the time to lecture those who abuse, is simply because those who abuse their medications are considered to be the primary reason why legitimate pain patients have such a difficult time obtaining and/or filling their prescription for similar medications.

This widespread abuse now has the DEA, doctors, nurses, and pharmacists concerned about who is and who isn't taking their medication properly. So at this point they are monitoring the same doctors who prescribe these meds closer than ever before; creating a bad stigma towards anyone who "needs" them (legitimate or not).

Maybe this will help clear things up for those who don't understand why people are lecturing them for their bad habits. It's all about the society as a whole being treated wrongly for the action of a minority who just want to catch a buzz. I don't think anyone would care if junkies abused "H" so much as they would if they were abusing a prescription drug, in that regard, since "H" is not something your doctor would prescribe.

Hope that makes sense!
