Mg = Mg

I presently take 1 30mg morphine 3X day and 1 15mg mor.ER 2X day. It is not enough. I could take 50mg 4Xday and it might work. BUT instead of asking to up the morphine wouldn't it be better to ask for Hydromorphone 4mg 3X a day. I am not conc. About side effects, on diss.. What would I take in place of ER?

The ER is a time released formulation, the goal with it is to give you better pain control, while using the other to handle break through pain.

So, a regular release Hydromorphone isn't going to be able to do that, either.

The dose of the Morphine could be raised.

But have you ever tried Oxycodone? There is also a time released formulation of it that you may want to ask your doctor about, it's called Oxycontin.

This is a narcotic analgesic, so it has the potential to be habit forming and may cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, drowsiness, dry mouth and constipation.
