Metoprolol Tartrate Vs Metoprolol Succinate

Had been taking metoprolol xl 25 mg one daily for years without issue. Due to recent heart palpitations my dr prescribed metoprolol tartrate 50 mg twice daily. Due to having a gluten sensitivity I have had reactions to the metoprolol tartrate from several pharmaceutical companies and have asked my dr to prescribe my metoprolol 25 mg xl as I had no gluten reactions to this medication. He granted my request and prescribed Metoprolol xl 25 mg twice daily. What I need to know is taking two metoprolol 25 mg xl the same as or equivalent to taking metoprolol tartrate 50 mg twice daily.

Seem to be having some minor palpitations and feeling hungry all the time.

Did you get an answer from your doctor, yet?

Because I have to agree that this isn't making sense, you weren't switching to a different medication, you were just switching to a different dosage and formulation of the same one, so the dosage should have stayed the same.

Diagnosed celiac disease. I have been taking Metoprolol Tartrate for four years, no problems. Always receive a white round tablet. Refilled prescription, received round pink tablet (m 32)Mylan. Now I am experiencing gluten symptoms!! Does anyone know if this pill contains gluten? Tried contacting Mylan, no luck getting anyone to return calls/emails.
