Metoprolol Morning Or Night
UpdatedI used to take 25mg of metoprolol er succinate for 2 yrs. Dr. Moved up dosage to 50 mg a month ago and I am sooo tired. I take it with dinner around 6 each evening. Would it be ok to take at bed time......afraid if I take it in the morning I'll sleep all day!

Hello, Emily! How are you?
It can be taken at night, as long as your doctor approves. The reason they usually tell someone to take it in the morning is so that it can help control blood pressure and heart rate during the times of a day a person will usually experience the most fluctuations. However, this is the time released formulation, so there should not be a problem.
The FDA patient advisory leaflet lists its typical side effects as possibly including nausea, dizziness, headache, increased urination, and hypotension.
Is there anything else I can help with?
