I have been taking metoprolol for prehypertension with a dosage amount of 25mg for 2 years and just had open heart surgery for aortic anuerysm. I have now been prescibed an encrease of metoprolol of 100mg a day. Have put on 12 to 15 pounds since taking 100mg 2 months ago. Started to loose my hair after it had grown back after chemo from my cancer. I would like to know if there is something else that I could take.I just gained 2 lbs in 1day

Yes, there should be other medication options that you can take, since Metoprolol isn't the only drug in this class, but you should consult your doctor to be sure and to see if they will prescribe something different.
