Metoprolol 25mg Twice Daily

Been taking metoprolol 25mg tartrate twice daily and by the time I go to bed and fall asleep by bloodpressure spikes during the night. Don't know if the meds have worn off during the night or if I should be taking another pill before bed. Tried to get a hold of my doctor but he is out on vacation. Does any one else have this same problem. I can tell my bp was high cause when I wake in the morning my eyes are blood shot.

High blood pressure only rarely causes blood shot eyes, it is especially doubtful if it only happens when you are sleeping and goes away.

There are a ton of other causes, however, including disrupted sleep.

You shouldn't change this medication, without consulting with your doctor, because too much of it can cause unsafe drops in your blood pressure.

Have you considered seeing an eye doctor?
