Metoprol Tar

At about the time I was diagnosed with borderline blood pressure and put on metoprol Tar, I noticed discoloring on one, then two shoulders -- a rash -- where the skin became harder and bumpy/scaley. At the same time I developed a rash under my right breast that hasn't gone away. It's four years now and my blood pressure has risen and the rash spreading throughout my back, into my arms, and recently into the buttocks and legs. I've also been extremely stressed for the past 12 years and more so since I lost my job last year.

Is this a reaction to Metoprol or my high blood pressure, or is it something related. I also have edema in both lower legs and have been on hydrochlorothiazine for two years. Thank you.

It has been known to aggravate psoriasis, so the rash and other skin issues you've experienced might be due to that side effect of the Metoprolol. Other side effects may include nausea, dizziness, headache, dry mouth, increased urination, and hypotension.

The Hydrochlorothiazide has also been known to cause dermatitis, which can be severe, as well as dehydration, headache, nausea, and dizziness.
