Methylpred 4mg

My MD prescribed this for inflammation in head, ears, nose, throat and cough along with an inhaler. I am on day 5 and although I am improving, I still have a nasty dry cough which has not improved. Maybe I am not using the inhaler properly. I do have some side effects from the methylpred 4mg but tolerable. I would like to take something for this persistant cough but am afraid to mix with meds. I am 79 yrs old in fairly decent health. Can I take any over the counter cough medicine? Thank you so much.

Hello, Mary! How are you doing? Has the cough improved, yet?

It may be due to the inhaler, most of them can cause dry mouth and dry throat.

However, before adding anything else, it would be best to double check with your prescribe to make sure it is safe for you to do so.

The side effects to the Methylprednisolone, as listed by the FDA, may possibly include nausea, dizziness, insomnia, nervousness and acne.
