Subutex carries the risk of causing the same side effects as Methadone and other opiate narcotics. The active ingredient in it is Buprenorphine, so it can also be habit forming and cause dizziness, drowsiness, dry mouth, depression and constipation.
The difference is that is isn't known to cause the withdrawals that are as severe as those of Methadone, nor to cause cravings. So, unlike Methadone treatment, where people usually end up on a lifetime maintenance dose of it, those who take Subutex or Suboxone usually end up eventually becoming entirely drug free.
