Methadone Shortage Florida

It's October 10th 2013 and I get prescribed 10 mg methadone 3 times daily for chronic pain related to 2 herniated disks I've had for 13 years with nerve compression to the point of my right leg being either numb or on fire , and I can't seem to find these anywhere . Except for Walgreens and they flagged me today for lbeing suspicious. I'm 35 years old and am bald, have a long beard, and tattoos. So I know where that came from. If anybody can help me by telling me pharmacies that keep it in stock it will be greatly appreciated. This is my 2nd day without and I'm scared ow wds

Hello, Micah! Sorry about the problem that you're having.

The problem on the east coast stems from the shutdown of a very large distributor that did most of the large chain pharmacies. The DEA found the distributor to be suspicious, due to them moving far more controlled substances each month than other similarly sized distributors. This has caused a shortage for many pharmacies, they are having problems getting new stock in, until a new distributor takes over.

Thus, I really can't suggest anywhere that you could be certain would have it in stock. However, you'll most likely have the best luck at smaller mom & pop type drug stores that didn't use the large distributor and are most likely more easy going and not so suspicious. Just make sure you don't gripe and carry on, if they say they don't have it, because that will be sure to get you flagged again.

Thank you for your response. The pharmacist at Walgreens told me that if I didn't have it filled.by 1:00 today.she was going to have the prescription cancelled I didn't know they could do that, but I found it at a mom and pops pharmacy with no problem and was welcomed back next month to have it filled again.
