Methadone Doctors Northeast Philly

Please help. Been addicted to oxys for five years. .cold turkeyed and wound uphospitalized. Suggested methadone. It works for me I haven't had insurance for years n haven't seen doc in over ten. I have good job now with benefits and need help with finding a doc who will prescribe methadone. Im tired of street dealing and going back n forth between the Oxys and methadone when I can find it. .I be given sobriety. Many attempts but always relapse. If I could just find a doc to prescribe me methadone this hell of a rolercoaster ride would stop. .I don't feel high on methadone and don't feel sick either. . can someone please help. IV never opened up like thus before I just want a stable life. .thank you very much. .God bless

Hello, Bob! How are you doing? I'm very sorry about everything you've been through, but it is awesome of you to want to seek help and something that you should be very proud of! :-)

In regards to the Methadone, a general practice doctor isn't allowed to prescribe it for addiction treatment. It can only be given for addiction by those that have been specially trained in its use for such, so you have to go to a treatment clinic.

Additionally, since it can be highly habit forming itself, most doctors will not even prescribe it for severe pain, unless all other options for treatment have failed.

Thanks for the kind and encouraging words. .thanks for your time too. .I've heard of people going on the clinic for a year or two while being Werner down. . That's my goal. However its my understanding you have to go to daily groups n such. .I work 50 HR weeks. .what's my next step?

I know it can be expensive esp. if you don't have insurance but Suboxone actually comes with coupons that most doctors have for 6 months free (i believe - it's been a while. whatever the coupon is, you can get it on the official suboxone website) and also some docs don't charge as much as you think. I was seeing one in Media, DE County, right across from the courthouse (ironic, no?) who charged $60 per visit (it is mandated by law that you have to see the dr ea. month) which is way less than most docs charging $150-$300. I'm saying all this because methadone gets you high and suboxone doesn't. It's really easy to stay clean when all you have to do is, first thing in the morning when you wake up, pop it under your tongue, and for 24 hours you are immune to the high of any opiate so there's no point in even trying. Some people say they get off on suboxone but i never have. If you take it daily and at the correct dose, you'll never feel high from it. I think that it's when people take a bunch when they've never had it and haven't had opiates for a while that they feel something. Or maybe they're taking Subutex? Anyway it's better than lining up everyday in front of the methadone clinic
