If you are taking it for addiction/maintenance, then a regular doctor will not be able to prescribe it for you. It would be against the law for them to do so. It can only be administered in a clinical setting by those that have been specially trained in its use for such.

If you require it for pain management, then due to the new regulations that were put in place last year, you'll need to see a pain management specialist, as a general practice doctor can no longer do pain management and prescribe such medications.

This is a narcotic analgesic, so it has the potential to be habit forming and may cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, drowsiness, dry mouth and constipation.

If it's for pain management, you might want to see if your PCP can refer you to someone. In some cases, that is the quickest and easiest way to find the help you need.

Can anyone recommend a good doctor in that area?
