Methadone Doctors Around In Syracuse Ny

Looking for a doctor in upstate NY (Syracuse & surrounding) that can prescribe methadone in a private setting I am tired of the clinic and liquid dosage. wound up there because of pregnancy 4 & 1/2 yrs ago (on opiates for pain, high dosage), have several painful conditions including rsd which is nerve issue. want a life again! anyone that can help i would greatly appreciate feedback.

Hi, Arlene! Sorry about what you're going through.

However, the problem is that a private doctor is not allowed to prescribe Methadone for addiction/maintenance treatment, they can only prescribe it for severe, chronic pain.

Even if that wasn't the reason you started going to a treatment clinic, once you enrolled yourself there, that's what it's listed as in your medical records, so no private practice doctor can prescribe it for you due to the laws.

I wish I had better news for you, but I don't. Your not the first person that wanted a better solution, unfortunately, there isn't one for Methadone.

The best idea I can give you is to check the website suboxone.com and see if there is a doctor listed in your area that treats with it and is accepting new patients. It can be given in a private practice setting and the added bonus is that most people treated with it usually become completely drug free after a few years of therapy, rather than requiring a lifetime maintenance dose.
