Methadone Doctor Birmingham Al

Yes, I am trying to find a way to taper off methadone. I am a recovering addict and I have been in recovery 9 years. In my methadone treatment I was at 70 mg @ day and reduced to my current 30 mg @ day in small amounts over time at the clinic I am in. I have heard that a psychiatrist, under certain conditions could write it. Insurance doesn't cover MMT and my wife and I both go. With one income and 2 kids life is financially impossible.

Unfortunately, no. Under current U.S. laws to have it administered for addiction treatment or maintenance, it can only be given in a clinical setting by those that are specially trained in its use.

However, it is your right to taper off and if you tell them, they should help you to do so, but you do need to be aware that most people never get off of it and require a lifetime maintenance dose.

This is a narcotic analgesic, so it has the potential to be habit forming and may cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, drowsiness, dry mouth and constipation.
