Methadone Different Manufacture Less Effective?

Has anyone using methadone for pain control found Roxa brand less efective than mallinckro for controlling there pain. Since taking the Roxa brand my pain has come back, I did talk with the pharmacy about this and she said most likley a major flare up. Does anyone know anything about this? It just seem wired to me because my pain started 3 days after the switch. Thanks

Yes it is possible that your body can react differently to the same medication from different manufacturers. Are you able to obtain the Mallinckrodt version from anywhere else?

Thanks for the responce Roy. I did get back on the Mallinckro methadone and it has made a difference. Has anyone had backorders in their part of the country? I live in WA state and its been hard to get my RX filled for methadone? Does anyone know anything about the backorders?

funny if you check out waht most people think about mallincrodt products, its not good.
when I was taking methadone, I found roxane worked best for me for many years, when mallincrodt changed there shape for methadose( big round pill) to the newer little caplets, I was unable to tolerate them, at all, racing heart, dizzy, then the same thing / roxane, I noe have my meds made for me at a compouding pharmacy, really weird, so good to talk to thers that have STRANGE side affects

I have a lot of experience with methadone usage. In my opinion and the opinion of about 15 other people I know and trust, the mellenkroft methadone is very, very weak compared to Roxane or Eli Lilly methadone. I and most of the people pay more to get the round roxane tablets instead of the mellenkroft oblong square tablets. I asked some pharmacists about this and they said they switched to it because of cost. Cost! Methadone is one of the cheapest drugs around. Approx. 20 cents per 100 10mg tablets. Good luck Steve

last month got my rx filled, not the usuall Roxan methadone- they gave me mallies instead. What a differance. Do you think he can order Roxan for me this month?

Heck yeah. Those roxas are junk. Theyre like taking an asprin... My pharmacy quit carrying them because so many people came back complaing!

I goto a clinic and they just switched to malinckro. I take 70mg a day of the liquid. I can't tell a diference...but my clinic switches all the time for their bennifit! Cheap asses! But when I did eat percs all the time I had noticed that the brand makes a huge difference.

Hope you're still active on this site. I'm getting my methadone from our local pharmacy. They are the oblong ones. They are costing me $80 a month. The VA won't fill my Rx right now so I pay privately. Where can I get cheaper? Any info is appreciated.

The Mallinckrodt work very well for me. Roxnene gives me severe headaches. Anyone else have this side effect?

I noticed slight difference when my pharmacy refused to special order the other brand. Biggest difference was digestive.
Other brand kept me regular the roxa did the opposite. Took about 3 to 4 weeks to smooth out.

Has anybody noticed that methadone seems a lot weaker now then what it did pre 80s? Also weight gain, puffy feet, abdominal swelling seems worse these days. I'm in Australia. Thanks

I don't know where you are ,but in Australia IV noticed a big difference in strength ,I don't know what's going on but I remember yrs ago if someone was on treatment it would be hard to not be noticed ,I don't know if it's me or there seems a big difference ,somedays I don't even notice that I have been dosed , I can have a pain in back an not notice any pain relief at all. If only you could get off it without feeling any symptoms as well , doesn't seem fair ,but what is.anybody else notice big change ?
