Metformin Side Effects Weird Dreams

i have been taking Glycomet (metformin +glimepiride)
i am getting weird dreams practically throughout the night.
i have read somewhere that Metformin causes this.
i would like to understand the reason/mechanism for metformin inducing this side effect.
is there any way to get rid of this side effect?
