There are actually 2 formulations of Metformin listed by the FDA, there is a regular release, which takes about 15 to 20 minutes to start working, after you take it and there is also a time released formulation that releases the medication slowly over time.
The FDA lists the typical side effects of this medication as possibly including nausea, dizziness, headache, flatulence, stomach pain and hypoglycemia.
