Metformin, Dissolve, Sick, Came Out Whole (Top voted first)

My sister has been taking metformin for awhile, recently it has started making her nauseous, today it actually made her sick, she took the pills around 9 am, and when she got sick around 6pm, the tablets had not dissolved at all??? Is this normal??

Do you know what kind of Metformin she takes?

If she's on the time released formulation, that would be normal, because the tablet remains in your stomach for awhile and the medication is slowly released, over time.

The FDA lists the typical side effects of this medication as possibly including nausea, dizziness, flatulence and stomach pain.

What dosage does she take?

Oh, I want to specify, I'm not saying the getting sick and vomiting is normal, just the possibility of seeing the outer shell of the pill in her emesis, so it looks like it didn't dissolve, at all. Some people also see them in their stool.

Has she talked to her doctor about the nausea?
