I have noticed the poor fasting test numbers that I am experiencing with the Glibizide 5mg extended release and the metformin 500 extended release. a1c numbers now at 7.5 from 6.4.. Is this normal with extended release meds and blood sugar testing results?

No, usually the controlled release medications give you better control over your blood sugar.
Has anything else changed, such as changing your diet? Are you on any other medications? Has your activity level changed?
The FDA classifies these as being oral antidiabetic medications and their typical side effects may include nausea, dizziness, headache, stomach pain, flatulence and hypoglycemia.
