Metanx Versus Generic

I got a prescription Metanx, it was capsules for it and they wanted $400 for 90 day supply 2x a day at Wegman's Rx, insurance won't pay as it is high tech vitamins so I asked about a manufacturer's coupon and they found L-methyl-B6-B12 in generic made by Virtus Pharmacy, they had to order it and it came in the following day by 3:00 p.m. think name was Folbic but not sure, that was $238 for 90 day supply 2x day. The pharmacist was shocked at the price of the "B vitamins". Just started today so will let you know how well it works in a couple months.

Hi snowy,

As someone who's tried several different vitamin products over the past 5 years, I never knew B-vitamins could be so expensive either Lol. $238 sounds a bit unfair, especially since Metanx doesn't appear to contain anything different than a typical supplement you'd find at your local Vitamin Shoppe or Wholefoods. None-the-less, I hope it ends up working out well. You usually get what you pay for when it comes to health products, but I'd also recommend looking at some other brands if you ever feel that the price is too high.

Thanks for your comment and information, appreciate it. These are at much higher doses than you can get in regular B vitamins. It does however work very well for the neuropathy until they swapped another generic called Foltanx. It did not work and neuropathy came back so I have to wait until rx runs out since they won't take back once it's filled. But I told pharmacists not to substitute with this generic again. The l-methyl-b6-b-12 combo worked very well for generic so hoping they will have enough to fill it but will keep trying to find cheaper price for it.

Hi, my insurance will not pay for the Metanex so the pharmacist recommendation was to just get L-METHLY-B6-B12 . Metanex is a capsule and the other is a small pill. What is the difference between the two? I am very concerned they are not the same.

Snowy you need to call Brand Direct Health for your Mentax 90 dy supply is $174.00. Their number is 866-331-6440. My husband's insurance will only cover the generic which we do not want.

I was prescribed Folinic-Plus for my neuropathy. Just picked up my 90 tablets for $33.00 at Walgreen's. Folinic Plus is working for me and I can't be anymore happy about the price! Ask your doctor or pharmacist if they can get some for your neuropathy.

I went this route. Im taking Metanx for Raynaulds. Taken for 3 weeks . I could tell a difference after 2 pills. pain 99% gone numbness 90% gone. Toes still turning colors 50% gone .
