Meds Switched

I was on 5 30mg oxycodone a day and they weren't effective anymore being id been on them for a while. My doctor switched me to 15mg morphine ir 4xs a day if oxycodone is stronger why would this happen he said the morphine is stronger

Hello, Sheppy! How is the Morphine working for you?

And Oxycodone is stronger than Morphine by one and a half times, so you'd actually need 45mgs of Morphine to equal each 30mgs you were taking of the Oxycodone. You can look it up in an equivalency chart.

This is a narcotic analgesic, so it has the potential to be habit forming and may cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, drowsiness, dry mouth and constipation.
