Are 45, it's highly likely that you could be in perimenopause, which could cause your period to become irregular and skip some months, entirely.
Have you consulted your doctor?
You may even be post-menopausal and your doctor can check for that with a blood test.
But when taking hormonal contraceptives, it basically forces you to have your period, even if you're experiencing perimenopause or menopause.
