Are you referring to 500mg Cephalexin, the antibiotic?

You should follow your doctor's dosing instructions. According to the FDA, it's usually taken every 12 hours for 7 to 10 days, depending on the severity of the infection.

The side effects are listed as possibly including nausea, dizziness, headache, non-allergic skin rash and diarrhea.
