An antibiotic would be a good first choice treatment to see if it clears up, which is what you're doctor has prescribed.
The FDA lists its typical side effects as possibly including nausea, dizziness, headache, non-allergic skin rash and diarrhea.
If it doesn't clear up, more evaluations would be required, such as a CT scan.
