Lumbo Sacral Neuritis
UpdatedI have suffered with the above for about 8 yrs since around tge age of 40. So far as I know this is degenerative and the somewhat sevre daily pain is caused by compression on nerves in tge spinal column. I am presribed co-codomol and pregablin which is effective most days but only reduces the pain. I can still really suffer on some days!
I wonder in this day and age why their is not a better treatment or possible surgical procedure to replace the protective layer between spinal bones?

There are stronger medications available, but they do tend to carry the risk of being habit forming, so many doctor's are reluctant to prescribed. The NIH lists other typical side effects as possibly including nausea, dizziness, headache, constipation, and dry mouth.
As to why we have not found an effective replacement, that is due to the fact that the spinal column affects the entire body, so finding something that will work, without causing other complications, such as paralysis, is a very difficult undertaking. Modern medicine has made great progress, but there are still no guarantees.
Are you on any other medications? Are you seeing doctors that are specialists?
