Looking For A Family Dr To Manage Pain In Indiana
UpdatedMy family dr died the day before my appt. I have been going to him for 10 years and he had managed my pain with oxycontin and percocet. It seems a lot has changed in 10 years trying to find a dr and it seems that pain clinics that want to run you through mill with expensive unecesary tests are the only options. If anyone knows of a dr who is realistic and understand chronic pain in the Southern indiana or Louisville ky area any reccomendations would be appreciated. Thanks

I'm sorry, but due to the new regulations that were put in place this year, a PCP is not going to be able to prescribe such medications for you.
Anyone that requires them on a long-term ongoing basis will have to see a pain management specialist. There's just no longer any way around it and that means you'll have to cooperate with them for any evaluations that they think need to be done. I wish I had a better answer for you, but I don't. Everyone is in the same situation, now.
And after years of taking the Percocet, it's going to be very difficult to find any doctor willing to continue to prescribe it for you, due to the risks associated with long-term use of the Acetaminophen in it.
Learn more Percocet details here.
This is a narcotic analgesic, so it has the potential to be habit forming and may cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, drowsiness, dry mouth and constipation.
Have you actually tried pain management, yet?
