Loestrin 24 Birth Control Breakthrough Bleeding Nonstop

I am 1 week out from finishing my first pack of Loestrin 24 Fe. I started the pill on the first day of my period and have taken the pill at the exact same time everyday. Before the pill, my period came at the same time every month for five days. However, I have not stopped bleeding since I started taking this pill. I require a pad/tampon at all times I am bleeding so much. Now starting the last week of pills it looks like my "period" is starting. Will the bleeding ever stop? My GYN gave me the standard "stick it out for 3 packs". This may sound crazy, but how am I ever supposed to have intercourse when I'm bleeding every day? And for 3 months of this??? Has anyone else experienced this?

I am very sorry about the problem that you're having.

Yes, your doctor is right, this type of side effect can occur for the first 3 months, due to your body adjusting to the hormones.

You can still have intercourse, while bleeding, there is no harm in it. They even make a product that's available in most drug stores called the Soft Cup that replaces pads and tampons, which enables you to avoid the mess.

However, if the bleeding continues heavily, then this may not be the right contraceptive for you to use and you may need to try a different one.

Is there anything else I can help with?
