Liver Alts And Alts Are 72 And 73 From Pain Meds

I have been on to oxycodone 5 milligrams 325 4 times a day sometimes 5 times a day for 10 years now I have liver function problems my alt and Alt are in the seventies my doctor is switching me to percocet 10 5 times a day is that the same dosage and is the Tylenol lower dose. I have severe lower back pain from having fifteen different surgeries plates and screws in my neck rods in both my arms and knees deteriorating and a number of other stuff from the USMC. I did have a internal morphine pump at 5 milligrams a day on top of everything for 10 years and due to complications I had them take it out and detox me now I just take 25 milligram oxycodone 325 4 times a day sometimes it helps sometimes it does not do you think the percocet tens 5 times a day are going to help me and help bring my liver functions back to normal if not do you have any recommendations that I might be able to talk with my doctor about to keep me out of pain but help my liver at the same time

Hello, Jumpback987! How are you? I'm sorry about the problem that you're having.

It sounds like your doctor is just switching you to 10mgs of Oxycodone, without the Acetaminophen, from what you've said in your post. It is normal for a doctor to do that, if someone has liver issues.

The FDA classifies this medication as a narcotic analgesic, so it has the potential to be habit forming and may cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, drowsiness, dry mouth and constipation.

You may want to double check with him, but if I'm correct, then you'll no longer have the Acetaminophen to worry about.
