Lexapro And Nyquil

I am on 10 mg of lexapro which I take when I wake up. I got a head cold and took 2 nyquil at 11:30pm. I didn't even think about the meds till after. I'm a little nervous because I looked it up after the fact. It's been about 20 mins I hope I'll be ok.

I'm really glad you took some time to post this because there actually is a drug interaction listed between Lexapro and Nyquil. The University of Maryland Medical Center states that using the two together may increase blood levels of dextromethorphan (one of the main active ingredients in Nyquil) potentially increasing your risk of serious adverse effects.

On the bright side it sounds to me like you probably had enough time in between doses to not be too concerned about this interaction, but Umm.edu goes on to mention that if you are intending on using both medications together, you should discuss proper dosing protocols with your doctor first to ensure that any risk factors are minimized.
