Lexam Side Effects, I Seem To Have All The Classic Signs Or

I've read all the previous comments, and do have most of the symtoms. or side effects, Does anyone changed medications from lexam (20mgs) to something else?
if so what? Lexam seems to work for me but I don't like the side effects, what else can I take?

The FDA lists Lexam as containing the active ingredient Escitalopram, it is an SSRI class antidepressant. Its typical side effects may possibly include nausea, dizziness, mood swings, headache, weight changes and dry mouth.

How log have you been taking it? Most side effects are transient and will go away, once your body gets used to the medication, though that may take about 4 to 6 weeks.

Have you consulted your doctor about this?

Hi Verwon, thanks for answering the post. I've been on this medication for about 2 yrs. I have noticed in that time the changes to my weight, and my libido or lack of. It seems to be working elsewhere for me. My concern is these two factors and wondered if there is an alternative? Yes I have spoken to my Doctor, he has helped, but said it is better to stay on one that you know works.

Most SSRI's are known to cause the libido issues.

However, Prozac isn't known to cause the weight gain, as a matter of fact, it has actually been known to cause weight loss in some people that take it. Its other typical side effects, as listed by the FDA, may possibly include nausea, dizziness, dry mouth and headache.

I've been taking it for perimenopause symptoms for a couple of years now and it's worked great and hasn't caused by any loss of libido, at all.

I understand your doctor's perspective, but I think you should speak to them again about trying something else. There are many other options available, so there's bound to be one that works for you, without causing the unwanted side effects. It's just a matter of trial and error to find it.

Does anyone else have any advice or ideas to offer?

I think that the information regarding oxycontin extended release is a very dangerous idea to post. It is too simple to figure out how to get rid of the gummy coating. Shame on you! !!!
