Levothyroxine And Exercising

Hi, I have been on 100mg of thyroxine for around 2yrs now after a total thyroidectomy. I have recently decided to get fit and have started jogging, the first week I felt great and really motivated, now I seem to have crashed and feel lethargic. Just wondering if anyone knows if starting exercising regularly could affect the amount of thyroxine I need?? Or is the exercise just catching up with me lol

Hello, Angy! How are you?

Yes, it could very well effect your levels of thyroid hormones requiring that your medication be adjusted. Exercise is well known to help our bodies work better and improve our hormonal balance.

The FDA lists the typical side effects of this medication as possibly including nausea, dizziness, hair loss and weight changes.

Is there anything else I can help with?
