Levothyroxin 112 Mcg Another Alternative

I had a thyroidectomy, had both my thyroid glands removed in 2006. I still struggle with side affects. Before I had them removed I was really skinny and skin was fine. But ever since I had them removed I gained weight and my skin is bad. I get labs done every 6 months, they say my results are normal but my hormones are wracked out and super low on vitamin d. How can I fix this? Is there another pill I can take? My levothyroxin dose is 112mcg.

Which hormones are off? I need to know more, before I can help you.

Being low in estrogen or progesterone could be causing it and, if that's the case, you'd likely need to take an oral contraceptive to supplement them. The FDA lists their typical side effects as possibly including nausea, dizziness, headache, irritability and PMS-like symptoms.

As to the vitamin D, there are many supplements for it that are available over the counter, plus it is in most dairy products, such as fortified mild.
