Levofloxacin 500mg Shelf Life

I have 6 levofloxacin 500 mg tablets with an expiration date of 12-23-13. Will they still be effective?

Medications do lost efficacy over time, so they may not work well enough to full eradicate an infection, according to NIH reports. Thus, it would be best to dispose of them and see your doctor for a new prescription, if you need an antibiotic. Its typical side effects are listed as possibly including nausea, dizziness, headache, non-allergic skin rash, and diarrhea.
