Lax Les

sir i hav cough problem since last two months along with spiting of lot of phelgum specially at night i got few breathlessness attack also now doctor take my PFT test and reported some restrictive pattern along with this he send me for an endoscopy test which was reported with LAX LES IMPRESSION @ 40cm. sir i want to know what it is and how it can effect me? please... with due respect....

LES stands for your lower esophageal sphincter and lax means that it is loose and no longer as tight as it should be, so the coughing may be due to acid reflux. This creates the risk of your developing a hiatal hernia, where part of the stomach pushes up through into the esophagus, or you may already have one starting.

The symptoms occurring mostly at night, when you're laying down also point to this.

You really need to stay away from spicy/acidic substances, such as caffeine, nicotine, alcohol, spicy foods and should like take an antacid of some type.
