Latest Medication For Rheumatoid Arthritis

are there any new and better medicines for the treatment of R.A which can work without taking steroids alongwith?

I was diagnosed over 20 yrs ago with RA. I was on methotrexate, prednisone, & then various biologic drugs. I had to keep changing the biologics as they would eventually quit working. I used Embrel, Humira, Orencia, & Remicade with Remicade working longest. After it failed, i was having to stay in bed 2-3 days/week. Then i got approved by my insurance (Medicade) for Xeljanz. Pill taken once or twice daily depending on strength of pill. In 2 weeks i started going to the gym 5 days/week AND, more important to me, i was able to get off prednisone after 15 yrs on it! It is expensive, but if you have insurance, i can't say enough about how well it has worked for me for the past 3 yrs. Apparently some have stomach issues with it but i haven't. I also have not had to use methotrexate regularly which i'm happy about since that's such a nasty drug that can cause damage to other organs. I stronly recommend trying it.
