Lansoprazole Mouth Side Effects

I have been taking this drug for a pain in my stomach and repeated belching. After a few weeks I have a dry mouth, sore tongue, and very sensitive right lower jaw and tender right side of neck. It feels like bad toothache but my dentist says theres nothing wrong with my teeth or gums.

I've been back to my doctor to tell him about my dry mouth and sore tongue. He hadn't heard that dry mouth is a relatively common side effect of Lansoprazole, but agreed I should come off it. Today, after fighting an increasingly losing battle for a few days with Gaviscon and Rennie, I have taken one of the Ranitidine tablets prescribed (although the possible side effects give cause for concern). I am returning to the doctor tomorrow to mention the toothache, which drives me mad after eating. I hope it will gradually disappear now that I have stopped taking Lansoprazole, and I will be looking to him for reassurance.

The usual bacteria and blood tests have been done. I'm going to have a camera inspection with gastroenterology. I had one a few years ago which identified a hiatus hernia.

As for foods, I drink very little alcohol these days and avoid pastries and anything too spicy. I am partial to a cups of tea and latte, but hey, you have to have some stimulus.
