Lansoprazole/long Term Use (Top voted first)

The manufacturer of prevacid (lansoprazole) recommends usage of this drug for up to 8 months. I have been on this for years. What studies have been done to date on long term usage of this drug?

I have been on lansoprazole for 10 years and since then have had many problems including reactions to drugs, anaphylatic shock, arrythymia, high cholesterol, osteopenia and migraine.

To clarify this question….

The reason they are concerned about long-term use of Lansoprazole or any of the other PPIs, is due to the fact that they were found to cause brittleness in some bones, such as those of the hip when used for longer than the recommended duration.

This resulted in a large number of hip fractures among the people that took them for too long.

And yes, due to the way they affect the break down of some proteins, they can cause you to develop sudden allergies to other foods and drugs.
