This tablet contains 25mgs of Promethazine, the active ingredient in Phenergan, it is most commonly used to help prevent or treat nausea.
Common side effects may include: dizziness, drowsiness, dry mouth and headache.

Since it does cause drowsiness as a side effect, it is something given for mild insomnia and the dizziness probably explains the other effect you felt.
