Is There Anyway For A Louisiana Patient To Go To Florida And Get Three Month Supplies Of Oxicodone Without Having To Return Each Month
UpdatedWhere is the nearest dr. in Florida that prescribes oxicodone and morphine. I am currently prescribed 240 oxicodone 30 mg. and 280 methadone per month. I wonder if any of these drs.. would give 3 month supply so I don't have to return each month.

No, I'm sorry, but they aren't allowed to do that. Under the current regulations, they can only give one month of these types of medications and you have to return to your doctor each month so they can monitor you and write a new prescription, if needed.
And with all the major crackdowns that have been going on and causing problems in Florida, you're most likely not going to be able to find a doctor that will write anything for an out of state patient.
I wish I had something better I could tell you, but I don't. I'm sorry, I know that it's frustrating, but there has been far too much abuse and diversion of narcotic opiates, so strict regulations to better control the supply were put in place.
Is there anything else I can help with?
I doubt you will find a dr who will do this, but it is not against Federal Law. Federal Law states the following regarding multiple rxs for Schedule II rxs.
Issuance of Multiple Prescriptions for Schedule II Substances-
"DEA has revised its regulations regarding the issuance of multiple prescriptions for schedule II controlled substances. Under the new regulation, which became effective December 19, 2007, an individual practitioner may issue multiple prescriptions authorizing the patient to receive a total of up to a 90-day supply of a schedule II controlled substance"
That is WAY too much narcotic pain medication to be taking in a month for one person....if you are hurting that bad I don't see how you would even be able to get out to the vehicle much less travel. Good luck.
Federal Law states you do not have to see a dr every month for a rx of these meds. Go to the DEA website and look it up. The dr is allowed by Federal Law to write you up to a 90 supply, in 3 separate post dated prescriptions, this applies to a Schedule II med. I stand by what I said here and earlier.
But, it is the drs choice if he wants to do this or doesn't want to do this.
Do u go to a pm in Louisiana ? I'm in dire need of a new dr. Any assistance would be greatly appreciated. Ty.
