Is Oxycodone Stronger Than Percocet

I just had neck surgery a fusion on 5,6, and 7 i have been taking percacet 10/325 now for over a year well i ran out of my percacet and the doctor prescribed me oxycodone 5/325 so i just took one of those i just wanted to know if i should take to instead of one because if they aint stronger than percacet it won't help right?

Honey, Percocet IS oxycodone. Oxycodone IS the generic form of Percocet. (Percocet is the name brand, as Advil= IBprofun & Tylenol=Acetimeniphen.) your doc has u on the 5mg instead of the 10mg, probably for a reason-so be careful, this addiction Thing is no joke. Actually, Percocet is the name brand for a medication that contains the active ingredients Oxycodone and Acetaminophen. Generics for it are just referred to by the active ingredients.

However, plain Oxycodone is not Percocet. Oxycodone by itself is available in 3 different formulations, the regular release that's available as a generic or the name brand Roxicodone, the instant release that's available as a generic or the name brand OxyIR and the time released formulation Oxycontin.

Since you are listing 2 dosages, that means that what you were taking is a generic for Percocet and this new one was just prescribed under the generic name, your doctor can write the prescription either way.

And yes, the doctor likely lowered your dosage for a reason, or as a precaution, so you shouldn't double up, without their approval.

Not only is there the risk of addiction due to the fact that Oxycodone is a narcotic, but too much Acetaminophen may cause liver damage or failure, and may also result in a fatal overdose.

Does your doctor speak to you about your meds?
I know that there are plenty of people that think that Percocets are not oxycodone and Tylenol.
But in your doctors defence, all ingredients are on the bottle, I'd hope.
With google, and being able to phone a pharmacy, there's no need to have that kind of confusion or ignorance, although you are asking now or whenever this post was made

It is not the same! Oxycodone is for like people with cancer or pain that can't be stood. It's morphine based type of drug and very addictive!! As is norco/vics and such

It is the same. Percoset is oxycodone without the Tylenol

Percocete is oxycodone but has aspirin..their are some without than it would just call it oxycodone. .I take 30 mg oxy..my friend gets perc 10/325. .

Percocet does NOT have aspirin it has acetaminophen! Also, oxycodone IS the same as percocet IF prescribed as oxycodone/APAP, meaning oxycodone + acetaminophen otherwise it is just plain oxycodone with NOTHING added. Percodan is oxycodone + Aspirin! People.....learn what is fact and what is not before giving advice!

Btw, percocet, oxycodone, whatever you want to call it is NOT only for cancer patients......LEARN THE FACTS!

I am a nurse and advil and ibuprofen are not acetaminofen. Only tylenol is. I also worked pain management for 4 years and really both oxycodone n percocet are the same they just take the tylenol out for liver issues. Is one stronger than the other? Some say yes some same no, its all perspective

Your right percocet is oxy.....your better off not taking percocet for long term pain because the acedermetiphine will do damage to liver and stomach. ....
