Does metformin cause its users to loose weight besides controlling their blood glucose levels?

It can help with weight loss, since it improves the body's use of insulin. It is sometimes given to women with PCOS/PCOD, since it can help with their weight gain and improve their condition.

However, it shouldn't be used for weight loss, unless your doctor has specifically instructed you to do so.

Typical side effects may include nausea, dizziness, flatulence, stomach pain and hypoglycemia.
