I have been diagnosed with cellulitus on the inner side of my left leg at the ankle. Several years ago my ankle was severely broken and I spent 3 weeks in the hospital most of which was waiting for the swelling to go down enough that doctor could replace and fix the bone damage and close without having to use a halo device. One of the unfortunate side effects was poor circulation of the area. I have had the symptoms and low grade fever of the cellulitus since the 14th. My doctor was not in on the 17th and his NFP diagnosed it and wanted to send to the DR for IV antibiotics. I don't currently have insurance and didn't want to incur the expense. So I waited tell doctor was back on the 20th. He prescribed Keflex saying it spread anymore or the fever rose above 100 I would have to go to the DR for treatment. Now 4 pills in awaiting any challenges. Area seems less red and painful.

Hello, Mattie! How are you?

Cephalexin is the preferred antibiotic for cellulitis. It may cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, non-allergic skin rash and diarrhea.

If it's working, you shouldn't see any worsening of your condition after taking it for a full 24 hours and you should see improvement after a full 3 days.

How are you doing? Has it improved?
