Invega Weight Gain

I have gained ten pounds on this medicine. Is there any other drug like this that will not cause weight gain? I was out of medicine for 4 days and was very anxious and angry.any advice? I want off this stuff. I already take klonipin and lamictal. The dr has me on 3mg of invega and now she suggest risperdol. I have no clue what to try next.

Hello, Racheal! How are you? I'm sorry about the problem that you're having.

Unfortunately no, weight gain is a normal side effect of almost all psychotropic medications. Others, as listed by the FDA, may possibly include nausea, dry mouth, somnolence and headache.

The only thing you can really do is eat healthy and get plenty of exercise to try to mitigate this effect.

Does anyone else have any ideas or advice?
