Intuniv1mg Per Day At Bed Time

My 8 yr. old has had a hard time sleeping for years and now goes to sleep between12-2am and is up at 7am. he never gets enough sleep. Doctors changed him from Ritalin to intuniv.It is thought it will give him the same help with his behavior,but make him sleep. What does anyone think?

as ur age is very less.i think ayurveda is more better for you .i may tell u in detail if u intersted .but before treatment i require proper history .like tab. Serpina . Syrup . Sarswtaaristha .. Some massage therapy also necessary .

My son was diagnosed with ADHD early 2011, He is currently taking vyvanse (which is in the adderall family)and intuniv. Our Dr said the intuniv would help with his irritability. As it has helped a great deal. He takes the intuniv and the vyvanse morning before school, and a 1 mg clonodine about 6pm at dinner to aid his sleeplessness. Now he is focused and doing well, asllep by 9:30 - 10 and sleeps through the night. Perk too is he wakes up ready to go, not groggy or tired. you may need to see about adding a stimulant w/ the intuniv and possibly an agent such as clonodine to aid in getting enough rest. I have a 6 yr old with ADHD also, and he takes same meds,diff doses of course, minus the intuniv he takes respidal. hope this will help you.

Intuniv contains the active ingredient Guanfacin and it actually can cause drowsiness as a side effect, rather than the same stimulation that the other medications used for ADHD do.
