Inscription On Metformin

My 500 mg metformin has an inscription on it: IP 178. Is it really metformin or did the pharmacy make a mistake?

Yes, this tablet does contain 500mgs of Metformin, the generic for Glucophage, an oral antidiabetic medication.

Common side effects may include: nauseea, headache, dry mouth and low blood sugar.
