Identification 1p 114

Updated

I regularly take generic Lorcet (hydrocodone 10/650) for migraines and fibromyalgia. I just started using a different pharmacy. I am used to an oblong blue pill. This new Rx is a white oblong pill imprinted with 1P 114. BUT there wasn't a manufacturer name on the patient info pages or on the bottle. The pharmacist said it's just a different manufact. than I'm used to. I just want to make sure because I have checked several other websites (sorry!) and can't find it. Please help - don't want to take the wrong pill!! Thanks!!

I am very concerned about this same tablet. I have been taking generic Lortab (Hydrocodone-APAP 10-500) for pain management off and on for several years. My newest prescription was filled by CVS with this tablet imprinted with IP 119. The manufacturer is Interpharm, Inc. I have definitely experienced problems with this tablet that I have never experienced before taking Lortab or its' generic. The primary issues for me are insomnia and racing thoughts, which I have never experienced before when taking Vicodin or Lortab. I was so concerned that I returned to the pharmacy with the bottle to verify that it was the correct medication, but the pharmacist blew me off saying there was nothing different other than the manufacturer. I am wary of continued use of this and am interested to know if anyone else has experienced any similar issues.

IP 114 has been identified as a generic Lorcet (10/650) - your pharmacist was correct.

GBTexas:
IP 119 is in fact a generic Vicodin (5/500). So if you were really on a dosage of 10/500 for years, then this one would contain half the Hydrocodone. You may be experiencing mild withdrawals, as inability to sleep is listed as a withdrawal symptom [1].

One other thing to note with generics is that even though they may have the same ratios of active ingredients across the various manufactuers, the overall composition with inactive ingredients may actually differ. So if you did have a different experience with the generic from a different manufacturer, then that does not sound impossible. Too bad that your pharmacist did not seem to be more willing to help.

Thanks for the replies! Another, very helpful, pharmacist verified that it's just a different manufct. than they had been using. Take care!

As follow-up to my original post, I returned the generic Hydrocodone APAP 10-500 tablets (those imprinted with IP 119) to the CVS pharmacy that I regularly use and exchanged them for brand name. They said they had no other generic to offer. I have not experienced any problems at all with the brand name Lortab, but the difference in cost on my plan was $153.00 versus $8.00 for generic. I will be looking for a pharmacy that carries the generic from another manufacturer when I get a refill, but I did want use the brand name for a while to make certain that I was not experiencing a problem with Lortab or the dosage. As far as I am concerned, I feel that I did not have good results with the Interpharm, Inc. generic. Hopefully, my case is an exception.

GBTexas - What you have reported does make sense. Because inactive ingredients may differ, not to mention different standards across multiple manufacturers, a generic's bioavailability of the active ingredient(s) may differ by as much as 20% [1]. So I'm sure you're not alone with what you've experienced.

I have been taking the watson generic for 2 year for pain relieve, I also got this RX from CVS and on my normal dose experienced: Slurred speach, ataxia and Barely able to stay wake. I called CVS and was also asured the I had the correct medication. I am going to get with my MD to either change my med or I am also go to find a PX that dose not carry this version of my med.

I ALSO HAD SWITCHED PHARMACIES AND WAS GIVEN THE WHITE PILL AND IT DID NOT SEEM TO BE AS EFFFFECTIVE . I DISCUSSED THIS THINKING IT WAS ALL IN MY HEAD AND HE SENT ME A TO A DIFFERENT PHARMACY THAT FILLED THE SCRIPT WITH THE BLUE ONES . SO I WAS WONDERING IF ITS THE MANUFACTUER,AS I HAVE HEARD OF MAJOR SCAMS ON PRESCRIPTION DRUGS.

I am experiencing a similar issue, but with the 5/325 strength generic from Interpharm, Inc., imprint IP 109. I was taking a generic from Walgreen's with no problems. I take this one, which I got at Costco because I am a member and they have cheaper drug prices for members with no drug coverage, and I am thoroughly nauseated for almost a day afterward. I did not have a problem with nausea with the other generic.I could take my usual dose of two and feel fine. Now I take one of the Interpharm and am practically incapacitated by nausea.
